Project Overview

Emtat Ltd presents a groundbreaking innovation in the "Blue Economy" sector. The ABAS Project integrates the Mediterranean's most powerful seagrass, Posidonia oceanica, into industrial aquaculture environments. This system creates a biological life-support loop that eliminates the need for energy-intensive mechanical aeration.

The Innovation

Unlike traditional fish farms that rely on electrical pumps and chemical filters, our system uses the natural "rooted integration" of seagrass. This allows the plants to act as 24/7 biological aerators and wastewater treatment units. By absorbing excess nitrogen from fish waste and converting it into oxygen and biomass, the system maintains pristine water conditions naturally.

Key Benefits

  • Energy Independence: 100% reduction in electricity for water oxygenation.
  • Carbon Negative: Absorbs CO2 at a rate 15 times higher than tropical forests.
  • Biodiversity Support: Creates a controlled habitat for the preservation of endangered Mediterranean seagrass.

Intellectual Property Statement

This research and the technical methodology for rooted integration of Posidonia in closed aquaculture environments are the exclusive Intellectual Property of Emtat Ltd. Strategic partnerships for pilot projects in Italy, Spain, and Greece are currently open for discussion.
